MUSICAL PROGRAMS

Bellevue Hill Public School has an extensive musical program consisting of an orchestra, junior and senior choirs, recorder groups and tuition in a variety of musical instruments.

Twice a year a Soirée is held to showcase the talents of the musicians at Bellevue Hill Public School.  Soirées are held at the end of Terms 2 and 4.

Tuition

Tuition is available for instruments including violin, flute, clarinet and saxophone.  Lessons are held during class time and cost $27 per half an hour and $20 per 20 minutes.

Orchestra

The orchestra consists of students from years 2 to 6 who play violin, flute, clarinet and saxophone. Weekly rehearsals are held with a specialist music teacher.  The orchestra performs at various school occasions. The strings also have an opportunity to perform at the Sydney Opera House as part of a large string ensemble.

Choir

The school has two choirs, an Infants Choir for years 1 and 2 and a Primary Choir for years 4 to 6. They have had many performances including singing at the Choral Concert at the Opera House, Westfield Shopping Centre, Open Day and Presentation Day.

Recorder

Children start to learn recorder in year 1 and 2. From year 3 they have the opportunity to join the school recorder group. The group has graded lessons once a week at school but children are expected to practice at home every night. Major performances include: The Festival of Instrumental Music at the Opera House, Soirees and Presentation Day.
